Welcome Fam to a new day, a new week that the Lord has made, may we rejoice and be glad in it.
Congratulations we made it to the 3rd week of October, and the final quarter of 2021. If you are still alive, still living, still hoping, still trusting in God, then the Lord is not through with you yet!
I welcome you to my Bible Study Series aka BSS 101. Here we will be delving into the word of God to learn, lean in and draw fresh from the living water of God.
Today we will be talking about - Compassionate God; God of kindness
Our bible reference is from Psalms 4:1 TPT, “God, you are my righteousness, my Champion Defender. Answer me when I cry for help! Whenever I was in distress, you enlarged me. I’m being squeezed again—I need your kindness right away! Grant me your grace, hear my prayer, and set me free!” This bible verse has been divided into four paths, deliberately to breakdown every piece.
Part 1 - “God, you are my righteousness, my Champion Defender.” Psalm 4:1
The Psalmist, David was declaring God as - My Righteousness and My Champion Defender. We have been handed a victory without any battle. Our righteousness is like a filthy rag!! Jesus won the victory for us when He overcame death and rose from the dead. He defeated death and hades. We are more than overcomers because of the sacrifice on the cross. We are alive in Him. Would you join me like David and declare? My God, You are my Righteousness and my Champion Defender. I have no reason to fear.
Part 2 - “Answer me when I cry for help! Grant me your grace, hear my prayer, and set me free!”Psalms 4:1
The Psalmist, David let out a cry for desperate help from the Lord. He was asking for relief and freedom. I am like David today and letting out a cry for help from my Lord. I know He will answer me in His time and make all things beautiful. The one who walked on water, the one who parted the Red Sea, the fourth man in the fiery furnace is asking us to fix our eyes on Him and Him alone. I pray He will hear our prayers. He says call and l will show you great and mighty things. Can you call Him now? He is able.
Part 3 - “Whenever I was in distress, you enlarged me.” Ps. 4:1
The Psalmist, David went memory lane and remembered times he was in distress and the Lord delivered him from it. The Lord brought relief in troubled times. He was quick to remember. Can we relate like David? Were there instances where we were relieved from troubles that we thought were overwhelming and God brought relief. I can relate and l also declare like David... Lord, whenever my back was against the wall, You always made a way. Sometimes just at the niche of time. I have seen God come through countless times. Can you declare and affirm like David?
“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” Ps 46:5 KJV
Part 4 (Final part)- “I’m being squeezed again—I need your kindness right away!” Psalm 4:1 Once again, here David, was affirming that he was being squeezed again!!! Like other times he needs Jehovah’s help! And right now not later! I reckoned like David, l have been squeezed before, countless times and even now... no joke. But l come asking the Almighty God who prevailed for me in the past when l was squeezed to show me kindness, compassion right away. We should be rest assured that the Lord our Reliever will show up ‘again’. “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” Ps 46:5 KJV.
Go into the week and be rest assured you have a compassionate and loving Father who is with you.
