All things are possible

Driven by resilience and determination, humans from time can do anything they set their minds to do. Impossible is a word and a limitation we place on ourselves or that we allow others to place on us. Inventions and breakthroughs are the results of a resilient mind to aim better. We, humans, strive to aim higher and achieve the impossible. Once the idea is conceived, the rest like they say is history.

Several times, l was told that l could never lose weight. That I was never built to be slim, l often hear my naysayers say. I was fed up with getting tired now and then. I chose not to listen nor accept what others said about me. So, l would take pictures to remind myself of my wellness journey and where l started, and how far l have traveled. This served as a constant reminder of the need to believe and focus on my goals. The weight was not acquired overnight, and neither will it disappear in a flash.

Honestly, l believe impossible is a word and a limitation that we can set aside and focus on our goals. By taking baby steps one day at a time, l would set health goals and challenges that seem unachievable to others.

Have you tried to set daily targets to consume 8 cups of water and have failed? Or reduce or eliminate sugar from your diet. Have you paused to ask personal questions? Firstly, why do you need this lifestyle change? What are the benefits? What steps can l take to achieve it? Was this a nice to have lifestyle or a recommendation by the Doctor? Without a plan, the goal is already a failed project. Why do l need to stay healthy? Is it to fit into that beautiful dress, to combat sickness and diseases, or to stay healthy?

Hear me out, the one who wears the shoe knows where it pinches. Your body is yours to carry. No one will carry your weight for you nor bear your sickness. lt won’t be easy, but difficult does not mean impossible. Every change comes with a price. Don’t be pressured by the progress of others. Soon you will see results. Or they tell you this weight is enough, don’t lose again. Listen, it is your body, not theirs to carry! I battled with self-doubt and wanting to please others and slowly l was caving into their advice. The breaking point came when l wasn’t feeling good about myself and battled with some health challenges. Some l am too ashamed to share. Thankfully these health challenges were not life-threatening. Well, am glad they weren't. So why wait? Join the fit family and enjoy a healthy lifestyle that is less expensive than hospital bills.

Once again, what is impossible? Like in the picture above of a very good friend of mine, from her teenage years, she had been fascinated and interested in sky diving documentaries from just watching. She naturally is an adventurous person and enjoys any form of extreme sport. A couple of years ago, she ventured sky diving to motivate others that it is possible to do it and it is safe. Did she? Yes, she did. She conquered self-doubts of safety and naysayers. Nothing is impossible to those who believe! It takes courage and self-motivation.

It is popularly said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Years ago, l made up my mind to eat well, and live better. To kick off my wellness journey, l took some baby steps to slightly change my daily routine:

- Walking one mile a day.

- Dieting

- Craving less unhealthy food

Lastly, signed up to fitness groups—trust me having a group with like-minds, is a recipe for success and an encouragement dose to stay motivated. Downloaded some health apps (Mayo Clinic, Map MapMyWalk, StrideKick and Pedometer) to help with my new lifestyle goals.

Looking back, l am glad l started and will keep going. l urge you to start today cause tomorrow may be too late. Remember the older you get the more difficult to handle health challenges and changes. It becomes more difficult to exercise, especially when it was never your routine. For a successful, long-term weight loss, stick to the basics — regular physical activity, overall calorie-controlled, eating plant rich in fruits and vegetables. So, get up, get moving and ignore the naysayers. You too can and yes you can live healthly.

So, Fam, if you are ready to transform your life there is no better time than now. The second half of 2022 just kicked in. Start this July, with a goal to be better. All it takes is the first step. Whether you are slim, medium, or large, health is wealth. Join me and millions around the globe on a lifestyle journey from changing unhealthy habits to creating and walking in a new and better life. Nothing is impossible!!

Impossible is nothing ! When we give ourselves the permission to try even if we fail, we will see how much we can go/grow.
