Preparing for the holidays can be fun or stressful or both!
Holidays are supposed to be enjoyed and be stress-free. There are good and bad stressors.
The end of year holiday are usually packed with lots of activities ranging from Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas shopping and planning for family, gifts and hosting friends. Phew!!! The list is endless. Sometimes if these activities are not planned they become endurable experiences rather being enjoyed. As we wind down to the end of 2021, planning your year end is important for your mental wellbeing and for those around you. Therefore, before you go for that shopping, ask yourself, is it a want or a need? Am l buying because others are buying? Do l really have the budget? Will this bring sleepless nights of thinking of how to repay my loans? These are thought-provoking questions that can potentially prevent you from being stressed out this holiday season and afterwards.
Here are some things we can do to manage stress:
Plan your shopping
Plan your visits
Find time to rest
Unplug from technology
Disconnect from social media
Take walks or exercise
Meditate or listen to music or a podcast
Express gratitude to someone who is not expecting it for something you are grateful for.
Call someone that will make you laugh
Stay Connected with family and friends
Volunteer for community or church activities
How would you deal with holiday-stress? I would love to hear from you.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays.🎄
