Hello, welcome to Manna!! I inspire women to eat good food, embrace fitness and live vibrant healthy lives. I want Sistas to know that their weight loss goals ARE not IMpossible!
What was your motivation?
My motivation was to change my eating and lifestyle habits which were not healthy. Considering l was feasting on junk food, eating late, mostly carbs, and doing little to no exercise, I needed to make a change.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Seeing my results in pictures, my clothes loosely, encouragements and compliments from my family and friends. Also, l noticed visibly my skin clearing and inflammation disappearing - gives me positive vibes.
How did you change your eating habits? (What foods did you stop or start eating? Let us know if you used a specific plan or program.)
Slowly l started eating right and clean. My focus was to reduce the portion and gradually stay off unhealthy foods. I followed the Intermittent fasting as a guiding plan, which has become a lifestyle. As much as possible, I avoid late meals after 8pm. I drink water at least 64oz daily.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My favorite workout routine is Brisk walking. I commit to I walk 5miles 4-5 times daily. Sometimes l walk between 10k - 15k steps on average. I use the stairs more often. I have Apps (Stridekick and Pedometer and MapMyWalk, they keep accountable with monthly challenges with a group of RoadWarriors and community of friends.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting was 97 kilos, and my current weight is 84.
What is your height?
161 inches
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My journey started when l turned 39 years old in 2011 and l wanted to shed weight, because my clothes were not fitting. After 2 kids l became overweight. My transformation started slowly but visible, but l was on and off. So, l gained again and when l saw pictures of my weight l decided to really get serious with my health. My transformation is evolving, and l would say this particular transformation from my recent pictures has been between one to two years.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Walk your lane. Don’t compare your health walk but learn from others to improve. There is no destination with a healthy lifestyle, it’s a journey to keep improving and overtime it becomes a habit. Start small and stay on course and the results will definitely come. Being patient is a friend you will need to this journey. The weight loss cannot happen overnight. It needs to be sustained and to make it worth your while. it is a life Journey not a sprint.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start now when you can and not tomorrow. Start small. Make little changes to your diet and introduce small exercise routines not too difficult. I started with 2 miles a day and today l workout 3-4 times and commit to 3k steps daily. This health journey is your lane and pat yourself from time to time. Every day is a gift to do what you can with the grace and drive from God. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Keep stepping around your home, walk the stairs, walk to the grocery store, join a group of friends, download a health App. Personally, l recommend Stridekick and Pedometer Apps. Set health realistic goals. For example, my September goals are:
* Target 3k daily steps
* Target 🎯 250k steps monthly's
* Intermittent Fasting 13-18hours daily
* Daily warm lemon
* Drink 64 oz of water
* Avoid eating after 8pm
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
If so, what procedure and when did you have surgery?
Thankfully, surgery is not part of my weight loss journey. I am a COVID survivor, and l felt this was God giving me a second chance to live life again. I want to live my best life by consciously taking good care of myself as best as l can. This is not a destination but an unending lifestyle journey. I would love to hear from you! Please share your motivation.
Keep stepping!!! One day at a time.
Very true mama
