Recently, l started using Aloe Vera natural gel as a hair treatment and gradually l began to add a cube size to my smoothies. The question l have often asked myself is, why is a plant with thorns so useful with many benefits? Growing up, my mother used Forever living products. This was, my first contact with Aloe Vera being used as a supplement and for medicinal purposes. I decided to challenge myself to research this plant and why it is popularly used for so many different things.
According to Healthline, Aloe Vera “is a succulent plant species from the genus Aloe. It grows abundantly in tropical climates and has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant. Aloe Vera juice is a gooey, thick liquid made from the flesh of the Aloe Vera plant leaf. It’s commonly known to treat sunburns”. Another article, informs that the Aloe Vera plant remains every bit as relevant today as it was in ancient times. The spiky, green gem has a rich history of use in various cultures that employed the plant's moist middle for a wide variety of medicinal and cosmetic uses. This plant was applied as a gel to the body as part of a beauty regimen and used to treat soldiers' wounds in time in memorial.
I discovered some uses of Aloe Vera, from Hair Treatment, Skin Treatment, facial masks, Shampoo, Herbs, cure diseases, gel, and nutritional drinks and the list is countless.
Now, you may not be a fan of Aloe Vera, but l would like to highlight its wonderful characteristics that cannot be overemphasized. I started using Aloe Vera every bimonthly and would add to my smoothie and l leave some as a hair treatment. I have noticed improvements in my health, hair, and skin. I believe it is important that whatever treatment we are embarking on, should be treated from the inside out. When it comes to taste, Aloe Vera by itself taste like most plants, slightly bitter, very jelly-like, and with a bit of acidic and sweet touches. Depending on the origin of the Aloe Vera plant, you could get a stronger taste.
According to Medical News Today, here are some benefits of adding Aloe Vera to your nutrition:
1. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties
2. It accelerates healing in wounds
3. It reduces dental plaque
4. It may improve skin and prevent wrinkles
5. It lowers blood sugar levels
Caution Alert!!! Remember, always speak to a doctor before using Aloe Vera products to treat a condition.
In summary, Aloe Vera has a wide range of therapeutic properties, and l nicknamed it the miracle plant. What is Aloe Vera to you? Do you use it and for what? I would love to hear from you.
Have a wonderful day.
