Eat clean sounds like a command or an instruction. It is a form of detox, cleansing, and inward de-clogging of the body. When done consistently, produces an outward glow to the body. The main idea of eating clean is to select food close to its natural form. So instead of boxed, powdered, processed, bagged, or canned foods, choose fresh whole produce.
Here is an easy guide to follow when thinking of eating clean:
Replace frozen vegetables with fresh
Replace bottled sauces with fresh stewed tomatoes sauces
Replace peanut butter with homemade peanut butter
Replace canned guacamole with homemade guacamole
Replace raisins with fresh grapes.
Here are five ways to eat clean:
Eat more whole grains
Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables
Watch out for salt and added sugars
Skip artificial ingredients
Drink two liters of water instead of frizzy drinks
It may be difficult to consistently eat clean, especially with our busy schedules or budget. Grabbing ready-made food, stored in the freezer or at least semi-prepared, might just be easier and quicker at home or in the office. Try adding fresh salads or juices to your food intake as often as possible.
A popular saying ‘You are what you eat,’ really is true. You have a choice, because the healthier you eat, the better you become. Healthy eating should not be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Once in a while, we all you indulge in unhealthy habits, it’s a smart idea to embark on a cleanse at least once a month. A recommendation will be to start with 7 days a month to purposely eat clean. To give your digestive system the much needed break it deserves and replenish yourself with the right foods, physical and mental activities.
Here are my eat-clean routines:
5 days of monthly green juice detox
Turmeric/pineapple and ginger shots
Serve Sunday meals with salad
Daily intake of 2-3 liters of water
Avoid packaged or canned juices
Plain tea, mostly without sugar or milk
Load up on fruits and vegetables in season
Sprinkle fresh vegetables on meals. Like chopped scallion (spring onions), parsley, or spinach. Keep it raw and fresh.
So, Fam, remember you are what you consume. For brighter skin, clearer eyes, better sleep, great digestion, and controlled weight, eat clean. Strive for variety as you make healthy choices. Make this a lifestyle, not a one-off experience!
Love it! Thank you for information and important reminders
